In
the name of God Amen, I Henry TRAFFORD of the parish of Wendlebury in the County
of Oxon Yeoman being of perfect mind & memory praised be God do & make
& ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner & forme following:
that is to say ffirst I commend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God hoping
& assuredly trusting that through ye merits & mediaon (mark above ao
- mediation?) of his dear Son & my only Saviour Jesus Christ I shall be
made partaker of Everlasting Life: My body I commit to ye Earth whence it came
to be decently interred according to the discretion of my Executrs
hereafter named And as concerning all such worldly goods and Estates wherewth
God hath blessed me, I give and bequeath in manner and form following, viz,
Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Son Henry all ye State Right Title &
Interest which I have in that Messuage or Tenement and one yard Lands of arable
meadow & pasture grounds with Th’apurtenances & all & all manner
of Houses Orchards Gardens and Profits Comodities Advantages Emoluments &
Hereditaments whatsoever thereunto belonging, lately purchased of George HOLMAN
Esquire & now in ye Tenure or Occupation of Dorothy ROBERTS Widow lying
situate & being in the parish of Wendlebury aforesaid and Chesterton in ye
said County of Oxon; Item I give
& bequeath unto ye said Henry All that one Acre of Meadow ground with
Th’appurtenances lying & being in the fields Precincts & Territories
of Burcefter [Bicester] Kings End in ye said County of Oxford lately
purchased of Sir John HOLMAN & formerly belonging to Mr Henry STANDARD. And
in case ye said Henry should happen to dye before he come to be of ye age of one
and twenty years, That then the premises with all & singular
Th’apurtenances Shall descend To my son Thomas; & in case ye said Thomas
shall happen to dye likewise before he come to ye age of one and twenty years;
then to descend to my Son John: Item I hereby give & bequeath unto ye said
Henry one Leaden Cestone??? one Gardner standing in ye Maulthouse, Two Staddles?
Standing neare ye Barne at ye house comonly called Okelies House: Item I give
& bequeath unto ye said Henry all my wearing clothes, ye great Bible &
my ffowling Gun. Item I give & bequeath unto my wife Mary all my household
goods within ye now dwelling house that is to say, All my Pewter, Brass, Brewing
Vessles, with ye ffurnace in ye Brew-House, All my Milke-vessles, Tables,
Cupboards, Chairs, formes, Joynt-Stooles, Jack, Spits, Hogsheads, Barrells,
Stills, Skreenes, Shelves, Cheese-boards, Cheese-Racks, Bedsteads, Beds,
Bedding, Coverlets & Blankets & all my Linnen of what Sorts or use
soever, Carpets, Coffers & Chests & all other my goods within ye said
dwelling-house & not elsewhere. All ye rest of my goods not before given or
bequeathed that is to say, All sorts of Graine, Wheate Barley Malt Beanes &
Pease with ye Crop upon the ground. All my Hay, Horses, Cows, Hoggs, Carts,
Harensse, & all other my goods whatsoever (excepting only before excepted) I
give and bequeath unto my foure younger Children that is to say Thomas, John,
Elizabeth & Mary; whereof I will that my Two younger Son have Two Third
parts to be equally divided amongst them, & my two daughters ye remaining
Third part to be equally divided amongst them. Tis my will alsoe that my Wife
shall have ye interest of such moneys as shall be raised upon ye sale of my
goods in order to ye maintenance of my foure younger Children soe long as they
shall agree to live together, & afterward to be disposed of for their
subsistence as my Executors shall think fitt. Lastly I constitute, appoint &
ordain Williams JONES of ye parish of Warcouth [Warkworth?] in ye County
of North-hampton Gent., & my Brother in Law Thomas GRANTHAM of
Willison [in Hethe] in ye County of Oxon, to be my Executrs in
trust of this my last Will and Testament, to See ye best use made of all my
goods & Chattels in ye behalfe of my Children, & to sell them off with
all convenient Speed. In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my Hand & Seale
ye ffifteenth day of January in ye yeare of our Lord Christ One Thousand Six
Hundred Seventy & Nnine
It
is my will, That in case either of my four younger chidren die before they come
to ye Age of One & Twenty years, being unmarried, that then his or her part
shall remaine to ye survivors equally to be divided amongst them.
