The STANTONs of Blackthorne

This page is principally a placeholder for a few links -

The Inventory of the estate of Thomas STANTON 14 Apr 1701 - this is a big download - 820kb. A transcription is also available

There is also a far less useful image of the Will of the same Thomas Stanton (112kb) and a very dodgy transcription

And two Admons : John STANTON and William STANTON

A few brief mentions of STA(U)NTONs in the Victoria County History of Oxfordshire: Ambrosden; Islip & Toot Baldon

Thanks to Chris BARTLETT for the Admons and for the main part of the Inventory Transcription.

Anyone with any ideas as to improvements to any transcription please let me know.

My Stanton ancestry comes through Prudence STANTON who married George GEORGE in 1815.  Her parents were Thomas STANTON of Blackthorne and Hannah CONSTABLE (perhaps of Eynsham?). Thomas's parents were John STANTON and Mary FISHER who married in Upper Heyford in 1746, if anyone can shed light on Mary's antecedents I would be extremely grateful for it!

John's parents were Thomas STANTON (c1680) and Ann TUGWOOD, then come two more generations of Thomas

Anyone with links to this family - please get in touch
